About Us

Who We Are

McCandless-Franklin Park Ambulance Authority (MFPAA) is a non-profit 501c3 proudly providing essential Emergency Medical Services to our five municipalities (Bradford Woods, Franklin Park, Marshall, McCandless, and Pine) for the past 45 years.

Today our service responds to 6,100 ambulance emergency and non-emergency calls annually.

Many of our residents are surprised to know that we do not receive any municipal tax revenue support from the municipalities we serve. Our revenue comes from three sources; our primary source of revenue is billing for services, with smaller but critical financial support from our subscription program, and continued support by our community through our donation program.

45 Years of Service

This July, McCandless- Franklin Park Ambulance Authority (MFPAA) is celebrating 45 years in service.

1977

MFPAA was incorporated as a non-profit municipal authority in January 1977 by the Town of McCandless and Franklin Park Borough. On July 17, 1977, the doors of our first station opened, and operations have run 24/7/365 since.

Our initial base of operations was an old gas station located on Route 19 across from Wexford Plaza; we had two used ambulances, one paid manager, and an otherwise entirely volunteer staff.

1979

In March of 1979, the Authority began serving the Borough of Bradford Woods, Marshall Township, and The Township of Pine by resolution with each community.

September of 1979 found us moving into our current location on Grubbs Road in The Town of McCandless.

1991

As our communities grew, so did we. In 1991 we built a second station located in Franklin Park Borough to respond to our northern area, and in 2017, we stationed a third ambulance at the Wexford Volunteer Fire Company. These three stations allow us to fulfill our mission of providing excellent emergency medical care in the timeliest manner.
